Konami has stopped the development of Metal Gear Solid for XBOX. No Bullshit.

" Konami has removed Metal Gear Solid 2 Substance from their Xbox Japanese release list, Konami mentioned that if the hardware installed base for Xbox achieved a certain level, they will continue to publish game titles for the platform. Right now Konami will focus on publishing game titles in North America and Europe for Xbox. "

I just found this report on The Magicbox. It seems like the XBox' fiasco in Japan is finally starting to really
show in declining support from the big jap developers.

A little bit unclear... does this mean that they won't release a JAP version of Metal Gear but english versions for EUR and USA ? If yes, who cares ?

Or did they cancel Metal Gear XBOX in general while concentrating on publishing others titles in EUR/USA ?

No, this "news" has NOT been known for a month. The rumour has been floating around, naturally, but now Konami have comfirmed it. It's a big difference.

And even though it may be published in US/EUR it says a lot about the future. Jap publishers never just concentrate on the foreign markets. They have a strong sense of homemarket connection. Personally, I feel that the jap developers have a tremendous edge over the western ones. And Xbox is a disaster in the Japanese market, so the future is up for western developers. Look at EVERY console with no jap support. It dries up and dies. Unfortunately.

apparently, some people here who prefer the gamecube and think he is so "woot woot", if you know what i mean, dont understand what [EfX] trying to say. He was talking about the new Metal Gear Solid: Substance that are currently being develop for PS2, Xbox and PC, not the original Metal Gear Solid X. So read before posting.

Substance has been canned in Japan for a while now. This is old news. Sony paid to keep the Japanese version exclusive in Japan. This 'news' is worthless to 70%+ of the worldwide market. Both the US and Europe are bigger markets, for all 3 consoles. MGS1 and 2 both sold more in the US than in Japan. This news means nothing. If the rumors are to be believed, MGS3 will be time exclusive for XB. Plus Splinter Cell is already known to be, and looks 10x better than MGS (any version).
