Default I can easily say over 90% of new games are on DVD.

well it seems almost every developer is releasing stuff on dvd instead of cd. I have a dvd burner so I really don't mind... Just wanted some input on those that don't...

Knowing that majority of the people don't have dvd burner and have no access to dvd silver, of coz DVD game is the best strategy for them to stop piracy.

there is nothing obvious about this thread dick face. I just wanted to know what people thought about this, are they going to keep getting dvd-rips or move on to a dvd burner.

don't reply again, go find another thread to crap on.

    Default Tired of rip's . . .

I purchased a DVD writer recently because I am tired of rip's. I just friggin' wish Dell would deliver my shit so I can burn my damn games! It just seems the rip's don't have the quality that they used to have. I got tired of the long loading times and stuff, the missing parts of games, blah blah blah. I think the rips are getting tougher to do because of the size of the games obviously . . .but I don't know. I got the money now, so it was time to move on. MOVE OOOON!

DVD+R works on V5 PS2 and above, also have been reported to work on some V4. Depending on which one he has he might still be in luck.

I use rips as a way to test games so I don't have much reasons to get a dvd burner.. If I want the complete game, I buy it.

If he ordered from Dell, it's probably the Sony do-it-all burner.
It does everything BUT DVD-RAM. Not bad for $249US shipped.

Well, why complain? Of course full DVD isos are better than all the shitty rips, so itīs just good that they concentrate on DVD isos instead.

DVD writters are the way to go if you have a non swap mod
If you use AR2 or GS you might still go for the rips becuase its a single disc swap. But i fyou have a non swap mod and access to dvdr you wouldnt waist your time.
Unless you cant afford the bandwidth to download dvd games etc.
But Dvd media is cheap the writters are getting cheaper speeds are getting faster its gonna really take off in the new year.

uhh.. if you know where I can get a Sony DRU500A for $249us shipped (or anything remotely close) right now I'd like to hear about it.

I am trying to buy a DVD burner and that Sony is damn attractive.. but if anyone knows where to get a pioneer 104 for under 230 bucks, I'm interested in that, too...

just in case DVD+ succeeds though, I want the sony..

    Default I hate Dell!

I got a great price from Dell for that new Sony drive, but I found out I have to wait until November 29th or so for it to be delivered! I was like f@$% that, I will get it at CompUSA or Best Buy for the retail price . . .but then I read some posts at other places and everyone is complaining about the software compatibility . . .and how it is not compatible with Primo DVD and other programs people like to use with burners. So I am taking that as a positive and hoping by the time I get the shit it will be compatible with some of the popular software. So I am back to getting rips! As long as I have NBA Live 2003 and NBA 2K3 I will survive! I wouldn't rush to get this drive as yet, but if you want to do it go ahead!

i'm sure the compatibility will get worked out (?)?

If dvd+ becomes standard, and I doubt it will, I don't want to have to buy a new burner.. also i'd like to be sure it works in my JVC dvd player.. and with DVD-R and DVD+R, that increases my chances. Plus, it's 4x dvd-r.
