Cute FTP and other ftp programs *help*

hi i found a friend on direct connect and my speed off of him there is usually 130-150 kb/s well when i use cute ftp program my speed is only 20-28 kb/s is there something wrong? also on Flash FXP is goes to 0 kb/s a sec and doesnt download!!! please help me!

yea by the way what i need to figure out u saying that p2p is better than having ftp access? why would there be such a dramatic change in speeds?

speeds change everywhere it has to do with a lot of things...p2p isnt better than ftp.

Is it the same guy on p2p that has the ftp server?

yes of course... i get 150 kbs off him on ps2 and on ftp i get 30 kb/s now somethnigs messed up

Then i agree its kinda wierd dude...you should be getting the same speeds...btw watch out for flashfxp cause that program can act wierd with bad cracks.

Try another program like leapftp..its a nice basic ftp proggie not as bloated with unnecessary shit as cuteftp and you dont need to register it to get full functionality.

you know what i really believe its because im in passive mode where are the settings in cute ftp or leap ftp to change to active? im new to those programs

Maybe he has a bandwidth limit per user on FTP but not on p2p?

Passive mode shouldnt have anything to do with your speed..also if you have to use passive mode you cant connect to any ftp without it..you cant run list commands and such.

But if you wanna mess with it its in leapftp:
options->preferences->general->proxy tab->uncheck pasv mode

in flashfxp:
either press F6 to goto options or options->preferences-> proxy/firewall/ident tab and uncheck use passive mode

he has no capped speed i was already in active passive had no difference still dont now
