    Default Toshiba Tecra TV Out

    Toshiba Tecra 8000
    Windows XP

    lo

I'm trying to get this laptop to display on the TV. I am using a yellow video to scart cable into the scart on the back of my TV. No other connections to the TV. But the TV does not pick it up.. Tried setting the TV to AV but still nothing, tried tuning it, etc... nowt

Any ideas on how to get this working??

I did not think that you could display a video out on a normal tv without some sort of TV card or PC to TV tuner?

    I could be wrong though....

    Should display OK.

    I'd check the scart......

My TV has a video in that looks like a phono socket, My Laptop has a video out that looks the same, I just plugged a standard phono lead into and put the TV onto the correct scart channel works a treat although the picture is shite !

do you have to do anything to the laptop to make it display on the TV? Software based I mean?

You may need to enable the video out from your laptop also ...

I've got a compaq and it's function key & F4 to switch displays as though you're using an external monitor... Not sure about a tosh though.

On the laptop there is a <fn> key that is used to flip between the VGA out and the LCD screen... this does not get the picture to display on the TV

I need to try it on another TV I guess.. Maybe its my TV

    Try FN + F5 ...

Display selection: Pressing Fn + F5 changes the active display device. As indicated in the table below, the changes depend on the computer's display type, current setting and whether you have an external monitor connected.

TV is selected only in a Windows environment. If you are operating in MS-DOS, the TV setting is skipped.

    Setting Active display Change order

    Auto- Selected Internal External Int. ð Sim. ð Ext. ð TV.Ext. ð TV. ð Int. ð Sim.

Simultaneous Simultaneous Sim. ð Ext. ð TV. ð Int.

The following display mode settings do not allow simultaneous display:

    Resolution Colours Scanning frequency

    1280 x 1024 64 K 75 Hz

    1024 x 768 16 M 75 Hz

    1024 x 768 16 M 85 Hz

When you press Fn + F5 with the above display modes the display setting changes from Int. ð Ext. ð TV.
