The best £4.50 you will ever spend!

    Too short a 3hrs.

If you start a long list of adjectives at Amazing and finish somewhere the other side of zippy via superb and stunning you're not quite doing it justice.

Oscars? Give them all to this film!

Don' waste your time with dodgy cams. See it

After reading the 2nd book after watching the 1st film, i was some what disapointed with this film. Dont get me wrong its was really gooed, especially the grand finale but falls very short of the book and hasnt let me dieing the see the final part like the first 1.

Anyway, make sure u see this on the big screen instead of some dodgy pirate.

what films do justice to the book

this film is superb, the research to get locations right for the film just helps the film flow through.

roll on the dvd in 2003 & the extended vesrion & then the final part in decembernext year.

pay your monies & go to the cinema to really appreciate this film

this one.. hmm, well the most i can remember of the story as i was too stoned, was that it was bloody complicated...

but it was fookin gorgeous to look at... i loved the opening scene over the mountains.. that left me gobsmacked..

Loved it as much as the first one,
only thing i have to moan about is the lack of cinemas with digital screens, now, most movies like this are shot in digital format, showing them on an old screen is like watching a dvd on an old black and white portable telly....kinda defeats the object.. but i`m sure the technology will catch up soon.....
Still a fantastic movie, don`t miss it..

I really loved this movie. But...

There are a few things I didn't like (which may be things that were from the books):

    1. Merry & Pippin are stuck in the tree for 95% of the movie. This just got to be ridiculous.

    2. As soon as Treebeard opened his eyes and started walking around, the movie developed a "Neverending Story" type of feel to it. Like a kids movie. I didn't like that.

    3. The way the Ents were animated... they didn't seem to have weight. Watch the T-Rex in Jurassic Park. Every time it stomped the camera shook. The animators failed to translate this on screen. If their surrounding environment wasn't there to give us a sense of scale, I'd say the Ents were about 2-feet tall.

    4. I assume the White Wizard that Treebeard takes Merry and Pippin to see is Gandalf. If so, what happened? Merry and Pippin say nothing about it. Neither does Gandalf. ???

    5. Gollum. People are raving about how he is the most realistic animated character they've ever seen. Bah! The problem with these animators today is they're injecting cartoon style movements into worlds that are supposed to be real. You can't have a character move like Woody from Toy Story if he's supposed to be real. Yes, I'm saying Gollum could've been a character from Toy Story. Good animation? Yes. Lifelike? No. The only guy I've seen who's been able to animated creatures with believability is Phil Tippett. Look at E.T.! No computer graphics, yet as real as can be. CGI still has a long way to go.

    6. King Theoden of Rohan. This guy pissed me off. Was he a strong man? Was he a weak man? He couldn't make up his mind. And the hair. Nice wig, Goldilocks!

    7. If Saruman could cause an avalanche from hundreds of miles away in FOTR, why did he stand by so helplessly as the Ents destroyed Isengard in TTT? He just stood on that balcony looking around for 10 minutes.

    8. Lady Eowyn showed some skill with a sword. Then she disappears during battle at Helmsdeep. I know she's underground with the Rohan people, but they could've at least shown her in a couple shots. She was just gone. It's like they built up her character and then slowly tapered it back after Aragon returns from his fall. Why?

    9. And finally, Where the hell did Gandalf go for 5 days?!! Why did it take him 5 days? As Gandalf the White, didn't he have new powers he could use?

    Okay. I'm done.
