Ink Jet Ink

I have an Epson Stylus 860 printer. No great shakes but it does the job.
However, I hate buying ink as it's a total rip off.
If anyone has an inkjet, can you tell me where you get your ink supplies. I currently buy the epson copy cartridges from Staples but I am sure there is a more cost effective supplier.
Not too sure I wanna go down the refill route, as a few of my friends have wasted their printers this way.
