    Default Cpu Fan/ Bios?

Just installed a new board and cpu.

    CPU AMD XP 2000
FAN AKASA AK824 WITH BLUE LED

ALL SEEMS OK, BUT THE CPU FAN SPEED IS NOT SHOWN IN BIOS,
    BUT FAN IS WORKING.

    ANY IDEAS PLEASE,

Is the fan connected to the motherboard or directly off the PSU?. You'll only get a speed reading if it's connected to the mobo fan connector.

It is connected to the mainboard , three pin connector.

I have a intel P500 with fan, connected fan only to board,
    RPM is shown in bios.

Maybe the sensor side of the fan i bought has a fault?

i've got the same prob, on my Mobo i have 3 fan connections, 2 of them give a reading to the bios but the other won't, not even to the monitoring software that comes with the mobo.

I've just given up, if the fan spins thats good enough for me.

    Default are u sure

Are u sure that the fan connector is connected to the cpu fan connection, as there are usually 2 or 3 places to connect a fan but the cpu fan should be on a specific one - check the motherboard manual- it will tell u which one

Their is normally tree fan connections,

    CPU Fan
PWR Fan - for the power supply
    Case Fan -

The connector from the fan should have three wires the re black and the yellow.

    The red +ve
    Black - ve
    and yellow is data

I would check the yellow wire is connected at both end s if this is possible.

And U should definetly look at the manual to ensure it is connecte to the correct socket, also check for bios updates and readd what changes have been made in any new releases of the bios.

I have found out from the manufacturer that this fan is bigger
and runs at a slower speed.

The motherboard bios thinks there is no fan fitted as it is
not registerd due to its lower speed.

The cure would be a bios update as the fan must run at a speed
    lower than the bios reconise.

beware when buying this type of fan.
