    Default HDD installation

I have recently upgraded my computer and have a spare 40gb drive that I no longer use. Can I format this to use in my xbox.

yes, your best bet is to get hold of Slayer's EvoX installer. With this it is a piece of piss.

As krooks said get the Slayers installer and your one click away from a new Xbox HDD. Its that easy - a good idea is use a 5400rpm drive as they tend to be cooler than 7200rpm ones - I guess you dont have a choice if you already have the drive.

nobody has metioned that not ALL chips support the installation of another hard drive, the chip or bios image you use has to support in dont it, or has something happened i dont know about.

so its kinda important to know what chip you got in your xbox m8, so tell us what chips inside

My drive is a 5400 rpm 40gb. I have an Xecuter 2 chip with EvoX installed.

Do I need to wipe my HD first or does the EvoX HDD installer do this?

    Cheers

Not sure - suggest a format before you use it just in case - I have only used brand new drives and the setup process only takes a couple onf minutes using the Slayers so I am not sure if a full format is carried out - it problally doesnt matter as it is changing the format of the drive but better safe than sorry and lets face it a Format takes no time on a PC.

thinking about it some more - a brand new drive needs formatting before it will work in a PC so you probally dont need to - give it a try without and let us know.

Can you swap HD using Slayers Evox installer if Enigmah chip is installed?

Might try fitting new one myself. Executer2 looks easier than Enigmah. Fitted N**2 in PS2 is it as hard or easier than that.
Also any info on removing Enigmah welcomed, can you just warm joints and ease wires off, or is it not that simple?

you can cut the wires- but a warm solidering iron is best as the connections are very fine and easly remove - dont pull them though -beleive me I know not to do it.

    cheers
