    CDROM problem

i have a phillips cd/rw 12oo series cdrom in my computer, everything was working fine, now it is not working, the cdrom icon on the taskbar as a red cross on it and the message
"no supported cd-r/cd-rw drive" comes up. i downloaded a firmware upgrade from phillips but this will not work because it cannot find a specified drive. also i cannot find the original installation disk. can anyone out there please help me?

    thanks in advance.
