    Xecuter2 Help !

    Hi,

I have just installed a xecuter2 chip. I would like to use it with evo dashboard and mediaplayer.

I built a cdrw with all the evo files from version 1.8.3 including the default.xbe file in the root but does not boot. I assume the chip is installed correctly because when you switch the xbox on now you get XECUTER2 written under the xbox logo on boot.

You get the message saying damaged or dirty and all the other guff. The XBox was made 10/2002. Is it classed as a old xbox ?. I took the jumper off the xecuter2 board meaning it is for a new xbox.

Or do I need to use other media ?

Any help would be very much appreciated.

    Regards
    Ori.

Your chip is working fine m8. (logo showing)

Try different media ie a cdrw burnt at 2x speed but do a complete delete of the disk first and not just a quick delete.

Yep your chip is working fine, like you say your getting the message at the bottom of the screen.

When you say you have copied the default.xbe from the root, which root do you mean?

Generally speaking Xboxes made before aug 02 are the old version (v1) and have problems with a lot of cdrs and sometimes cdrw.

But as you say if you have changed the jumper so its configured for the newer models then maybe this is your problem

    Thanks for your quick respinses.

When I say default.xbe, I mean that this was in the compressed evo file. And I am just using that. I also tried renaming it xboxdash.xbe but no joy. Just tried another CDRW (TDK). I will also try burning at 2 speed and put the jumper back on to test and see.

The white label at the bottom of the Xbox says 21/08/02. Does it say what version it is ?.

I am just going to pop out and buy a different brand of CDRW to see.

What name should the .XBE file be called or does it not matter ?

By the way the drive is a Pioneer.

    Regards
    Ori.

ok if you installed the chip yourself you should have no probs opening the box to see if it has a cooling fan like the one in the pic here or not : http://www.xbox-scene.com/versions.php
