torn screw thread while installing matrix mod-chip

While installing the matrix mod-chip I slightly misaligned the screw and tore the thread.

If anyone can thing of a way to get around this which is as non-permanent as possible I'd love to know.

I've thought of methods using combinations of super glue and blu-tack, but they all sound pretty dodgy

    Anyone?!?!?! =P

use a bolt - there is a tutorial at

    http://images2.xbox-scene.net/tutori...lt-OnGuide.pdf

basically you remove the thread that the screw was going into and place a bolt sticking up thru the motherboard - you then fit your matrix onto the bolt and put the nut on top - this attaches the Matrix to the motherboard nicely.

either that or fill the screw hole with epoxy resin and redrill a hole once it dries/hardens

or spray the screw with hair spray(stops the glue stick in to the screw) , after a couple of mins a bit of supper glue on the screw thread ,gently put it in the hole ,let it set about 5mins, un screw and you have a new tread in no time

but the best advice on the hole post is fit a decent chip in the first place

Thanks for all the support guys You guys are great *sniff* :shy:

Since I've already paid $$$ for my chip, I might stick to it for a while (until I throw it hard enough to break it - bloody thing)...

    Thanks again

Default No.4 * 9.5mm Screw is all you need.

    Hi ,
I done exactly the same, just go to your local DIY store and ask for a Number 04 X 9.5mm Screw, don't worry about the head of the screw either plain or pozy will do. The problem is the torx screw that is in the Xbox has been ground down to a shorter length and sometimes this will strip the thread in the plastic post on the case of the Xbox, a slightly longer screw is all that is required, but be careful not to over tighten.

    Cheers.
