Getting started.....

Hi all

been reading all the guides but still a bit confused, hope you can help.

Picking a box up tomorrow with a paired card - not sure what model it is yet but does have the serial port.

Box is N*L, I'm in T*lWest area.

what do i do first ?

Plug box into my live tw feed and allow to download new software with talkback still enabled or do i cut talkback first then update - is this just a case of connecting up and waiting ?

Then do I get funcard or rom10 card ?, which programmer for either ?

Hope you can help, this may be the first in a long line of questions ..........

I'm kinda new myself but from what i have gatherd, You change from T-W to N-T-L- with LibDebug, It comes with the appropiate config files to do this with.

As far as i understand it is a BAD IDEA NOT TO CUT THE UPLINK as you maybe detected.

Then if you have been given a ROM 10 card you will need an ID Programmer or a SmartMouse Programmer to read your Rom 10 card.

You use some software called BoxGetPC2 to read the cards IRD and Box Key.

Then used Mr Sporty's hex or the X hex thats around and edit your details into that. It comes with N-T-L & T-W hex as well

You can also use NAGEDIT to alter some info like the PPV and the TIER(I.E. Package).

Then you can use a Fun Card 4 to program your details on.

To Program a Fun Card you can use various programmers the Multiprogrammer will do this AKA Elvis, i dunno if the Smartmouse or ID card will do this though...?

I think you can re-prog the Rom 10 with the SmartMouse but the idea of using a fun card is not to get your Rom 10 Locked.

I myself have not tried any of this YET so please don't hold me resposible for anything that goes wrong this is what i have learnt from reading hundreds of threads here.. LOL

Anyone please feel free to correct anything i may have got wrong
