Battlefield 1942

Hi

I recently acquired battlefield 1942 and am having no luck installling it!

It installed ok on my mates PC but when installing on mine it gets to 67% then asks for disk 2! i put disk 2 in and it says it cant find the disk!

When i look at the disk in windows it looks like there is nothing on it however there must be coz it installed on my mates!

Any suggestions?!?!

Are you saying that when you examine the 2nd disk in your PC - it appears blank ? If so then its either corrupted or your PC CDROM is having trouble reading it and your mates CDROM drive is reading it OK. If its a backup then other than buying a new CDROM - I would suggest burning a new copy - if its an original then ack to the shop with it.

Unless he has given you the wrong Disk 2 of course and it really is blank.

have burnt 3 of them now and tried 2 different drives

not its totally screwed pc keeps locking up now and froze whilst installing! now when i try to install i get the message "c:\program files\common files\installshield\engine\6\intel 32ikernel.exe" cannot be installed filename directory name or volume label syntax is incorrect

ARGHHH doing my nut right in now! and its a fresh crispy install of XP

Anybody got a back-up copy Battlefield 1942 on PC and had problems with but managed to get it working...........If so how did you do it coz mine install ok but wont play!

most problems with game not playing is the graphics card! need one thatg supports Hardware Texture and Lighting! so anything better than a GeForce 2!

A TNT2 will not do! i had one and went and bought a Geforce 4 Ti4200

Hi Lemaru, Cheers for that very useful info but the card I`m using is the VERTO GEFORCE4 MX 420.
I suppose it`s just one of those games that just don`t want to play..........shame really it sounds and looks really good.
