Scottish & Southern Energy have now rolled out their Broadband service using the Electricity mains in your home. It is being trialed in 2 towns in Scotland and is soon to be rolled out in an as yet un-named 3rd town in Northern Scotland. I have spoken to S&SE and they are not actively marketing this service outside the trial towns yet but I was told that they will be very interested in the amount of "noted Interest" they get from other locations around the country. The potential for this service is huge and I for one have noted my interest. Under BT's current policy if you are unlucky enough to have a Fibre Loop telephone connection in your street (most new housing developments) then you will NOT be able to get BT Broadband, regardless of whether your exchange is enabled or not. The S&SE system does not have this problem and has the added bonus of much faster connections. I would therefore urge anyone serious about getting Broadband and interested in an alternative to the "restrictive practice" being operated by BT to click on this link and register their interest in the "About us & contacts" section.

All the best,
