    Default Small Network problem

    Hi,

I have setup a small network at work, all the computers are running XP. Something has happende dto one of them and it can no longer see the network.

I want to redo the network setup but have lost the floppy, which had the "network sartup disk".

How do I create another disk from the host computer, without going through the whole network wizard process ?

    I think that makes senses,

    please help.

    Dan

The easiest, well maybe not th easiest way it to find out how your network is set up and configure the pc manually.

on a pc that works visit
pc name and workgroup can be found by right clicking my computer and the network id.

networking settings can be found by right clicking my network places and properties then right clicking the lan network connection and properties. go into tcpip properties and write down the ip address of each pc, the subnet mask, the gatway address (if any) and the dns addresses (if any).

you can also check if there are any other network protocols installed i.e, netbeui and install it if it is on the other pc's.

workgroup name should be the same the pc name should be different.
ip address should be different for each pc only the last bit though
subnet mask should be the same on each pc 255.255.255.0
Gateway and dns should also be the same.

give it ago you will learn more doing it this way than if you use the wizards.
