How come news servers/news groups are not illegal?
How come even ISPs provide them.
I mean, they are filled with so much warez/software/movies etc etc - yet, companies can provide them - and do not get into trouble/get closed down
Just curious

Could be down to the low retention rates. By the time someone has complained - the stuff is gone anyway! Also the way that newsgroups are replicated all over the world would make it pretty difficult to police effectively. You might get one or two ISPs to remove stuff but that would be a mere drop in a very large ocean.
So you're the slayer. You're prettier than the last one.
Probably only a matter of time..
Demon were dragged thru the courts because they wouldn't remove a post someone considered libelous and I think they get acted upon for child porn etc..
Clara actively remove groups which contain kiddie porn..
Some of the media groups are already hiring companies to spam the newsgroups and inject corrupt data to shag up posts etc... Some ISP's don't accept these or the cmsg control messages which you can use for all sorts of fun (I made the Derby newsgroup years ago unofficially and it's still there )
Once the media are finished with P2P the next stop will be FTP, IRC & Usenet - everything will just end up going further underground than it is already....
