Help with RS232 and Com port

Hello guys,

I basically got my rs232 mod working. in fact three of them

The problem was not the mods that I had built before but the computer I was using it on.

I tried on my friends computer and it worled fine and all tests ran and confirmed in libdebug.

On his laptop, my laptop and my desktop, it doesnt work at all.

Have no idead why this is and cant seem to figure it out.

I tried another computer and seems to work fine.

Can anyone tell me what is going on? im lost.

Im using Windows XP. Which for most people has not seemd to be a problem.

Is it my com settings? CAn someone with fully working mod on xp post there com port setting so i may double check mine.

Seemd to be my box.

I have a problem with the power and ground which are intefering with each other for no apparant reason. The points are completely clean.

Is it possible to power off from somewhere else?

am not sure what is wrong with the box. Where brown is supposed to be on pin 12 the solder point has come off. I have soldered to a point underneath the board but not sure if this is right. Has anyone had similar problems. Is there a way to over come this.

i have used a voltmetre to test the continuity between the two points 15 and 16 and seem to get a continous bleep. This doesnt hapen on boxes where my mod works.

Only on this box at home. I have my mod working on my laptop now which i used for another box successfully.

just this one needs sorting now.
