laptop died wont turn on help please

i got my friends laptop here in front of me he was using it the other night and the next day when he tried turning it on nothing happened when u press the power button it does absolutley nothing at all tried it with the mains power in aswell and nothing if anyone has any ideas or something to try/do please let me know thanks

Have you tried speaking to Compaq directly?

If it's in warranty they'll just sort it for you..

just intro'd meself m8 thanks 4 reminder

spoke 2 compaq but as it's outta warranty they gimme the big f#*@ off
took it apart the other nite 2 check everything was seated correctly and could'nt find owt out of place

one thing that i noticed was that when u plug the mains power in2 the laptop the light on it (the mains adaptor) goes dim and starts flickering and my mate is sure it did'nt do this b4 so i wonder if it could be a power problem any ideas

also just noticed this now when u plug the mains in2 laptop it arcs out on the connector either with the battery in or out

I haven't got a clue when it comes to electronics stuff like that mate, I'm a server man I'm afraid..

Might be worth speaking to someone like http://www.laptopbits.co.uk/ to see how much they'd quote to fix it?
