that is a little vague fimbo?
With so little information all I can suggest is to make sure that the connectors on the motherboard are in the correct place. If they are then check that the on-board sound is enabled in the bios.
If that does help then it would help if you told us if it has ever worked in the past. If so have you changed or added anything. If not what motherboard etc etc.
IF IT IS CREATIVE THERE WILL BE A CHIP SOMEWHERE NEAR THE 3 SOUND INPUTS ON THE M/B OR OVER TO THE LEFT SIDE OF THE M/B WHICH WILL HAVE CREATIVE E1370 OR E1371 OR E1373. ANYWAY IT WILL HAVE CREATIVE WROTE ON IT WITH EITHER OF THESE NUMBERS. THE CHIP IS ENSONIQ EVEN THOUGH CREATIVE MAY BE WROTE ON IT ALSO. IF YOUR BOOT SEQUENCE HAS THE GATEWAY LOGO THEN GO HERE TO GET THE DRIVERS. THE ONE'S THAT MATCH YOUR ONBOARD SOUND SHOULD BE THESE FOR THE 1370 & 1371 CHIPSET: Ensonpci
Filename: v4051044.exe Date: 04/98
Size: 7.96 mb
Description: Ensoniq Audio PCi drivers.
AND FOR THE 1373 CHIPSET IT SHOULD BE THESE: Audiopci
Filename: v41020.exe Date: 01/99
Size: 15.2 mb
Description: Creative Audio Pci 64v Intergrated soundcard.
I FIND BOTH SETS OF THESE DRIVERS WORK PERFECTLY FOR THE SOUNDCARDS I TEST IN WORK. GO HERE TO THE GATEWAY WEBSITE TO GET THEM: http://www.gateway2000.ie/driver/desktop/driver.shtml
ONCE THE PAGE OPENS SELECT YOUR O/S THEN AUDIO FROM THE HARDWARE MENU THEN SELECT ENSONIQ FROM THE MANUFACTURER LIST THEN LOCATE DRIVER. THIS WILL BRING UP THE LIST OF DOWNLOADABLE DRIVERS. YOURS WILL BE THE 1ST SET IN THE LIST FOR THE 1373 ONBOARD SOUND OR THE 4TH SET FOR THE 1370 & 1371 ONBOARD SOUND. IT DOSEN'T MATTER IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE GATEWAY LOGO THE DRIVERS WILL WORK ANYWAY. THESE ONE'S ARE FOR WIN 95/98 O/S AND IT DOSEN'T MATTER WHAT M/B YOU HAVE OR THE MANUFACTURER THEY STILL SHOULD WORK. I'VE TRIED THEM ON VARIOUS M/B'S AND THEY ALWAYS WORKED.

please can you help cheers.
Open it up find out the board model number, use google to find the makers site, and look there for the sound driver.
Also do you have the disks that came with it, the drivers may be on those.
