He'd probably have to use NAT / port forwarding to get it to work..

Basically, he'd give the public IP (internet facing) to the guys on the internet and then configure his router to forward the relevant ports for the game server to the second machine, which probably has a private address - could be 10.x.x.x or 192.168.x.x or even 169.x.x.x

    That should do the trick..

Do you know what sort of router it is - I'm guessing it's a router since you say he connects via a hub - or does he use Internet Connection Sharing in Windows?

OK mate, I'm not sure what you mean by relinked IP but the one you give out is the public address...

You can find this at the following page (loads of others out there too)

    http://www.cotse.com/cgi-bin/test.cgi

Your public IP is the one listed next to Remote_Addr - make sure you're not using a proxy server as that will show there instead..

I'm guessing that if your mate does that on both machine's he should see the same address in both...

Can you get him to do an 'ipconfig /all' from the command prompt on both machine's so we can see the internal addresses and default gateway etc??

There's a basic page about setting up a UT server at http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=cac...n&ie=UTF-8</a> - it doesn't matter if it's not the same kit as the same principles apply...

Just seen your update mate, yeah basically you'd forward traffic from the main machine / router / cable modem whatever to the 2nd machine upstairs..

Basically, say the machine getting all the traffic has an ip of 211.234.32.2 you'd forward the ports in that link to his machine, probably something like 192.168.0.2.. He'd give his mates the 211... address and they would not know they're being forwarded to another machine in the background....
