Use google and do a search on atkins....there's loads of info.

Our lass started this last weekend after buying this book

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/...740550-0889410

and lost 7lbs in the first 4 days.

Buy some of these as well as it tells you if your in the state of ketosis and burning body fat

For the last ten years I have been fighting with my weight, I've tried diet pills (amphetemine based) - CNS Blockers - Appetite suppressants, low calorie diets and slim fast.

None worked, or if they did then I put the weight on again.

The Atkins Diet has helped me get from 19st 1lb to 16st since early December last year.

The weight drops of really fast at first because you are not taking in any Carbohydrates so your body gets its energy from the Glycogen stored thoughout your body (basically carbs + water) so you lose about a stone over two weeks in fluid alone.

Remember when you have finished losing your weight be prepared to put whatever you lose in the first two weeks back on again as its all fluid loss in two weeks.

After the initial massive weight loss you'll lose it at a good two - four pounds a week and you will get fed up eating meat all the time so I strongly recommend the LoCarb2 protein bars from your local health food shop.

To stay healthy on the diet I strongly recommend the following:

1 Holland and Barret Timed release Athletes Formula Multivitamins.
2 Grill all meat and cut off the fat and take a lecathin capsule to combat the increase in saturated fat.
3 Drink 2 litres of water a day, it helps the kidneys.

    Products I recommend:

1 Asda DIET Blue Charge (Same as red bull and sweeeet)
2 Ribena TOOTHKIND not Ribena Light to sweeten the water you have to drink (No carbs)
3 LoCarb Bars from a good health shop

    Also:
1 Go to a gym 3 times a week for 1 hour a time, light weights high reps a 30 minutes cardio split between weights.
    2 READ THE BOOK!!!
3 Stop eating low fat 'healthy lifestyle bars' they have more calories per gram than the standard stuff.
4 Remember to look for the hidden carbs.

    Other things worth mentioning:

1 Despite the fact it says eat fat get thin...dont - You don't need the fat, just the protein so trim it off after cooking.
2 You will get bored of eating meat after 2 weeks so will only be eating enough to deal with the hunger (less than 120grams of protein a day is perfectly safe) so ignore the kidney warnings and be more concerned about the fat.
3 Expect to go a bit stupid as your blood sugar drops..this is temporary and after being this way for a few days your body adjusts to it (usually the third week).

Lastly, you will get moments of weakness, probably once a week youll get fed up with it and crave real food which is okay the thing to remember is 1 chocolate bar a day is bad but 10 in one sitting is good. The reasoning behind this is that after being on this diet a few days your body will be in Ketosis and it takes a few days to get this way. When you eat loads of sweets in one go your body will still stay in ketosis and will stay that way unless the sugar levels are consitant for more than a couple of days.

The great thing about the simple carbohydrates (those in sweets) are that they are here and gone within a few hours whereas complex carbohydrates ( Bread, rice, pasta, potatoes starch etc ) stay in your body for bloody ages and eating these things WILL cause problems to your diet as it will take you out of ketosis.

Best way to put it is that the maximum amount of carbs you can have a day is 20g - that's one slice of bread - Any more than that and its diet over.

    Hope that helps,
    Gel
