Default which will you be buying next?

Be genuine...should be interesting to get a cross section of our community. try and give reasons as well please.

personally i have just bought a new seat leon 110bhp Tdi. Best of both worlds it's economical and i can still give it some welly when i want to

i know its a bit of a cheat adding Diesel & Turbo Diesel but i would have never bought a plain Diesel!

Sorry if i had my way i would have the Audi RS4 or RS6

See ya boy racers this is the daddy, forget ur M3, novas, subarus etc
This beats them all, failing that the Audi 2.5TDI would beat most motors, and in the tests when on the test track doing 135mph it was still giving 35MPG NICE!!!!!
Apparently u can get 155mph limited with only a slight mod of a chip and gives a nice 200+ bhp from ur diesel

    Now thats wicked

    Cheers

Well last week I got rid of a Mazda MX3 V6 cos it was costing a fortune in petrol (20-25 MPG) for an Audi A4 Quattro TDi (40-45 MPG).
The other reason for getting rid was my impending father hood and a need for more space in the car for pram, nappies, child seat, etc, etc.
Have to admit, I miss the acceleration, but not the stiffened sport suspension, used to feel every bump on the road.

    hey molacka

Why dont u chip it then the acceleration would be better along with top speed and torque?

Also adding a performance free flow airfilter would help too

Still rather have a German diesel e.g VW/Audi then anyother around!! the most refine out

    Cheers

I only got the car last week so I haven't had a chance to look into getting a chip fitted yet. I heard there was a boost adjuster which can improve off the mark performance, but I'm really more concerned with economy at the moment (and the wife bitches when I drive fast)
Anyway I'm happy with the car as it is at the moment as I haven't seen another Audi the same colour as mine (metalic neon green)

Yep at 440BHP thats quick and apprently its weird cause when u drive it its how u put ur foot down is how wuick u go, sounds weid but when ur in a normal car u put ur foot down say half way and it takes a little bit before its upto the spead int he postion u got ur foot in, but with that its instant lol

hard to expalain but hopefully u catch my drift

It's got to be a Turbo Diesel for me...

I've been diddling with French Diesels\Turbo Diesels for about 4 years now and would not go back to a normally aspirated diesel.

    I've had:

    106 Diesel
    205 Diesel
    309 Turbo Diesel
    306 HDI Turbo Diesel

and currently got a Citroen ZX Volcane TurboD tuned to about 110bhp, I know they can go further but that’s enough for me.

Just drove a BMW 330d the other day, that has to be the best all round car I have ever driven. Fast, luxurious, economical, refined... shame about the £17k price tag.

Next car will definitely be a direct injection turbo diesel, but it will be German, probably a 320d, 530d, A3 TDI or VW Golf GT TDI.

And of course diesels run on other cheaper fuels ;-)

For day to day running I have a new 03 peugeot 206hdi.
I cant praise the car enough , 70 mpg and is quite nippy when it needs to be.
Beats the 53 mile to the tankfull that the modified evo does.

Jaysus urbsy - how big is the tank (just to get an Idea of the MPG - like it really matters, that's why you have a day to day clanky)

If I was to say that you couldn't pour petrol down the drain faster then it uses it may give you some sort of idea m8

The figures are that it will hold about 52 litres , but I have never managed to get that much into the tank.

For the last week or so I have had use of a 355 (a sales car) and it is a lot better on fuel then the evo , but a bigger pig to drive.

    Well,

If you don't have a Bosch injection pump then forget it, the Lucas ones are crap to say the least.

Alot of it is trial and error (best to avoid the error part ). There is a guide, I will try to find it, it is basically the same as what van akken (or whatever they are called) charge about £700 for, but they include an intercooler I believe.

The 3 main steps are; increase the boost pressure (not too much or bang goes your engine), tweak fuelling and a better air flow.

In my more imature days (still havn't grown up), I used to have a 205 with a 1.9 turbo diesel lump in it (tight squeeze with the intercooler on) and I had 121bhp out of that with a bigger intercooler, exhaust, air filter etc..., and there is a 306 doing the rounds with 135bhp or something so there is big room for performance increases, but I can't imagine the reliability being up to much at that power output. Even the 205 at 121bhp, it used to kick out a load of black smoke when you floored it, and I think the rings were shot when I got rid of it. Now all I want is something smooth, understated but a bit nippy... I've had it at 112bhp for 30,000 miles now and runs sweeter than when I bought it...
