    Server Problem

    My server at work is really slow at running programs from it & accessing files from it, how can I make it run better?

    Here are a few of the specs I wrote down : -

    1GHZ Processor
    512k Memory
    Hard Drive are quite old

    Could be anything mate..

    1Ghz should be enough for a F&P box, maybe if you had more than half a meg in the box it would be a bit quicker Seriously though, half a gig is fine, I'd imagine you'd be looking more at a disk or network subsystem bottleneck..

    What sort of disks are in the server?

    How many users?

    What NIC is in the server? 10/100Mb, Token Ring, etc...

    What OS?

    Is Windows tuned for foreground processes or background..

    Is the memory manager tuned for program use or caching use??

    From your comments you might want to look at the disks mate...
