Sound card driver problem

ive got a soundcare built on my motherboard (AC97) and even though windows 2k3 server eterprise detects it and installs the drivers it doesnt work right, all noises i get is a nasty beep from my pc internal speaker.

I tried another PCI sound card but same problem

any advice would be apreciated

Have you tried installing the driver from the motherboard site?


I had a similar problem with my printer in XP. it found it installed the driver but it never worked right until I installed the correct driver from the manufacturer.

ok problem solved , went in control panal and had to enable windows media audio. 1st ever o/s ive had to do this with
