does anyone know how to stop a stb from updating from cr2 to cr3, i have heard it is possible by lifting a leg on one of the atmels but have not heard whether it actually works or not or exactly what to do. i want to keep pay per view on my funcard.

lifting a leg? you do that when you disable talkback, you have also done that havnt you m8? cant really comment on the above but check your talkback and make sure its disabled.

i read that thread and will give it a try on tuesday, thanks. i stop talkback by cutting a track in the tuner. does anyone know of a way to stop the box updating? i heard that if you lift leg 11 on the atmels and solder a link from them to the "+" of the internal battery this will stop the box from updating to cr3 if it is on cr2, don't know if it works though or if there is any other way.

    thanks

1000 model lift bottom edge of both atmels on sram card, 1000phase1b lift pin 11 on atmel nearest psu and tie to +ve battery is ok, 2000 model there are to spare spaces on mainboard for two more atmels connect pin 11 on both spare to +ve battery again is best place, this is tried and tested working no problem box will not try to update from old soft to new

the 11th pin on the atmel chip is the write enable pin.

what you have to do is change the state of the pin from - to + this is done by lifing the pin from the board and conecting it to the nearest + which happens to be the battery +.

this will disable the write pin. if you want more info on the chip look on the atmel web site.

Is there any point stopping the update from cr2 tp cr3 when there is a ppv workaround with rom card and funcard and i have also heard cr3 software has more features ie better epg etc

    hmmmm
ive only every messed about wiht the cr2 software (blue screens) a couple of times, seemed faster than the cr3 (purple screens)
which can be a right pain in the ass sometimes

but i tend to let it update to cr3 b4 messing with the card n libdebug.
to me cr3 s/w has better handling on the coms port
or at least i think it does
