Laptop Internet connection

I have transferred my Internet settings from my PC to laptop, but the laptop fails to establish a connection despite using the same number to dial out on as the PC.
Where am I going wrong? My ISP is LineOne, and it is ok on the PC as I am online as I write this message.

what os do you use?? if its xp use the new connection wizard and it should be o.k. If its win98 then you need to turn off netbeui etc if u have set up the connection manually. Could it be a problem with the modem in your laptop?? use phone dialer from your laptop to call your mobile phone using your modem, does it ring?? Have you enabled clid by prefixing 1470 in front of the isp number you have set it up to dial?? At what point does it fail?? does it dial out at all or does it fail while trying to establish a connection?? In other words a bit more info please.

Problem solved. Turned out to be an incorrectly set up modem. Thanks for helping,and thanks also to Freaky who replied to a duplicate post.

so it was the modem not setup right m8.
