CDROM Prob with XP

Hi

I have just put XP on my mates PC. Everything is working fine except when i put an Audio CD in CDROM it's a bit eratic (keeps slowing down & pausing). He had ME on before and it played ok so i know it's not the drive. He's also got a CD-RW running off the same connection and they play ok in the RW. I've tried swapping MA/SL around and also disconnecting RW but it's still the same. I cannot find what make CD-ROM is (just says ATAPI 52X). Hope someone can shed some light on this.

System is Athlon 1.3, 512MB RAM, Lite-On CD-RW, ATAPI 52X CDROM

Is the drive running in PIO or UDMA mode?

Sorted now thanx.

I changed it to UDMA but for some reason when i restarted PC, it had set itself back and locked it on PIO so it couldn't be changed. I deleted IDE 2nd channel and restarted windows to reinstall, reset back to UDMA and it now seems to be ok.
