    Default clevermod details (no switches)

Is this what some of you have been looking for so as not to spoil the looks of your Green Boxes by fitting switches?

Looks almost identical to something ebergeek released some weeks back

    DISABLE/ENABLE X2 Via Eject Button [25 March 2003]

Here is a simple piece of code for a 12c508 or 12c509. Simply connect the 5 wires as instructed and you can disable / enable your X2 mod (or any mod for that matter) using the eject button. As promised more free add-ons for you to pay with

I'll try to find my old cheap and nasty pic programmer sometime over the bank holiday and give it a whirl. I've not got the xecuter hex.

I am by no means an expert when it comes to asm but I've been studying the src code to clever mod and it looks very promising indeed. It compiles fine too, the x-ecuter code box_on.hex however may well not work, has anybody got it working? It did'nt work for me, I progged a chip and installed it the day it was released a few weeks back but it didnt seem to work for me, I must admit I did rush it as I was so busy so I wont say 100% out right it naff, but it didnt look good, it also compiles with errors so that not a good sign.

If I can I will have a go with clever.mod tommorow and let you know how it goes.

Personally tho I think I'll stick with a switch but this is somthing thats of interest to me, seen as I am learning asm.

I'm getting the same problem as you sanj, I have tried saving it out with the unused addresses and that wont work either, I've tried the old dosprog, that too fails so wont be testing today, I've lent my other progger to a mate and wont get that back till next week, so I'm hold till then.

Anyone else able to test this?

    IT WORKS!!

    I borrowed a p16pro programmer and progged a 12C508.
I just used pins 1, 4 , 5, and 8. +5v, Eject, D0 and Gnd. Didn't bother with the others. It's fine to leave the chip powered and I don't need any more LED's.

Well done to Hippo (who made the hex initially).

What about the resister's skel28 are'nt they needed?

No, the only reason for the resistor was to drop the 5V to 3.3V (along with the LED) to power the mod. I saw no need to control the mod power (after all putting a switch on D0 doesn't affect the power) and it works, just use pins 1, 4, 5 and 8.

Has anyone managed to get this to work with an Elvis progger, as I just get the same errors as the others, I've tried tweaking it for the last hour or so and now it's getting annoying.

I've tried both Hex's but I get errors on both, all I wanted to do was have a bit of a play, but now it's turning into a major challenge, only problem being that this is the only programmer I have access to.

TIA for any help at all.

Na mate had same probs, I emailed the makers in sweeden about the box_on.hex from X-ecuter and included the hex and one of the brothers just mailed back saying that sometimes it gives errors when progging the fuses, but i tried it and it dint work, so I don't if the hex works or if the pic was not progged corectly. As for the clevermod whatever I try the multiprogrammer 3.5 will not do it. Ive made changes to the src and recompiled it and still cant get it to work right, these progers aint upto proging 12c508/9 chips tbh.

    Cheers, for the reply.

No, I've never really like these proggers for anything outside of a smart card, but it's all I've got.

From extracting what has been written to the chip though it seems to be making an effort as some of the hex matches, but there also is a lot of bollox in there.

Ah well, looks like I may have to leave this for a while, I was just getting bored I haven't been inside my Xbox with a soldering iron for weeks now.

Yep it's a pain in the backside trying to program this hex using the elvis(wasted quite a few blank chip's)so i've ordered a mini titanium programmer from playstation mod's for £11.95 which might just do the trick. http://www.playstationmods.com/picprogs.htm
Also skel could you please try and put together a diagram,i'm a bit confused as to where the d0 point should go,i've already soldered the d0 on top of the board so shall I disconnect it and wire it to the pic chip leg?

Remove your d0 link dont have it grounded connect from pin 5 on the pic to the d0 on the board it will be grounded through the pic.
