SIM card registration failed!

I've got a Nokia 6310i and when I now turn it on it says "SIM card registration failed" is there anyway that this can be removed?

It's only since my contract has expired, but I would like to keep the handset.

if the contract has expired and ur using the same sim it will keep saying that message. try using a prepay chip or sumthing. if u are using another sim, make sure the fone is not locked onto a particular network cos that may also be the problem.
