    Default Systems Temperatures

I've built myself a nice new PC and have got it all up and running.

Some times when it is first switched on it makes a "voooom" sort of noise.

Is this likely to be a PSU problem and does it need looking at

What kind of signs should I be looking for???

    The system runs at:

29c - for the system temp
    CPU Temp - 45c
    System fan - orpm
    CPU fan - 3013rpm

is this about right?? My CPU is a P4 2.53 and 1gb DDR333 memory

    Cheers

I have an amd 2100+ and two 120gb and one 80gb drives.
    They are running atm @ cpu=45.5 , mainboard=40 , hd1=45 , hd2=51 (ibm) , hd3=44 , fan speed 1473.

The fan is one that bolts to the case and a copper half moon shaped thing fastens over the cpu (set on the lowest setting for noise reasons)

is 45 degrees cpu temp at idle or working temp if it's idle i would say it's a tad on the high side but if it is when the machine is doing something ( 100% cpu usage ) i would say it is fine

she's running at 45c when it's idle. It seems I can only check the temps and fan speeds in the bios, or is there any software that you can get??

Alos it's a P4 2.5 and ive got a coolmaster 2.8ghz fan to cool it. Is it worth upgrading this?

Where can i get a quiet PSU?

a proggie called "MBM" motherboard monitor is a easy windows program that gives all types of reading like temps and fan speeds etc.

and for a pentium 45c seems fine mate.

personally i wouldnt worry about it.

the reason i say it sounds a tad high is because my p4 2.4 gig clocked at 2.8 runs at around 37 idle and tops out around 48 degrees when the cpu usage is 100%
most p4s i have dealt with usually idle around mid to high 30's but sayng that my sisters p4 idles around 48 degrees so maybe it's just the way it is on your board

    My AMD 1800+ runs @ 50's under full load...so don't worry about 40's.
