Half-life based servers DoS

There is currently a DoS exploit in every version of the Half-Life dedicated server, which can be used by anyone in the world to crash any Half-Life server, or its modification games such as Counter-Strike, Day of Defeat, Natural Selection, et cetera.

4u-Servers, as many other gaming companies, have been hit hard by a flood of these attacks on our servers, our only option seems to be restarting our servers every time they get attacked. As you will realize this is pointless, as they will be back down less than 5 minutes later. So in effect, all we can do is wait on Valve to release a fix for the problem.

Word from Eric Smith from Valve is that a fix should be released today, so let's hope they get it out ASAP.

We are sorry for any inconvenience and downed servers, but the problem is out of our hands.

Why do people do this.......I'd love to slap the shit out of them.....
Any way looks like its sorted now.


Update II, 10:39 PM: We found a work around a couple of hours back which we've implemented on all of the linux servers. They should all be back up running in normal order. We will post more news on the Windows servers as soon as we have more news.

I have no idea but the day i posted the idiot who was pinging and killing of all the servers had taken down a couple because my server list was really small. Its good and bad this happens because it can now be patched and fixed.
