I read somewhere a while back that the largest hdd you could install in an xbox was 120gb. My question is, is this correct or not and if you can what is the max size you can use?
cheers

The modded BIOS' will handle up to 136GB drives. Hopefully Team Xecutor will sort this out soon and we will all be running 250GB drives![]()

thanks mate, I'll just keep using 120gb drives for the time being then
cheers
You can stick any size hdd in, but it will only be recognised upto 137gb. The 4976.02 Xecuter bios can support larger hdds, but I haven't heard of anybody actually installing one.
jesus guys are you ever gonna actually FILL a 120gig drive let alone a 250gig one.
wouldnt mind givin it a try tho i beleive the games load a lot faster from the hard drive, and it would be cool to just pick a game from a menu instead of putting discs in

Yeah the games do load quicker. It's hard to fill a 120gb hdd with stuff you're actually gonna play though
i filled it with mp3 and used it as a jukebox once... didnt last long. lol

Since I have been running relax and run a network cable under the carpet, I dont get close to filling the 60GB in mine - only have about 30gig full at any one time - defiently worth it though.

All the larger hd bios "support" larger hd's, but will only recognize 137 GB of it.
If you have a 120 GB, all 120 GB will be seen.
If you have a 200 GB, only 137 GB will be seen and can be used, which is why most people go for a 120 GB.
1/2 of my hd (120GB) is full with games, the other 1/2 with digital video, at the moment I only have 70 mbs free
blah blah blah = blah^3
No the Xecuter 4976.02 bios doesn't have the 137gb limitaionAll the larger hd bios "support" larger hd's, but will only recognize 137 GB of it.
First time I heard that.
Got a link mate?

It was in the NFO for the 4976 (not 4976.02) bios. Like I said I haven't heard of anybody doing this though.
so will the new x2 lite 2.1 be able to work with larger drives? .....and (silly question time) so if you whack in a 200gb drive and it only recognises upto 136gb, what happens to the other 64gb?
I use my hdd space for saving/backing up my mp3s and then run the xbox through an amp as it sounds sh1t loads better than the output from the soundblaster card I have in my pc.
cheers for the feedback so far ;)
here are the nfo files from 4976 and 4976.02, I don't see any mention of it. Can you give us any more info please gab?
ffrr the extra drive space is just ignored mate.
Cheers
I would have thought that if the new Xecuter bios allowed Hds larger than 137Gb we would have heard something about it by now.
I hope it is true, would love to bung a 180Gb Hd in me Xbox! Think of all the DivX's and Games you could bung on that beast.

4976.02 only supports 137gig. Save some money and get a 120gig.
