    Import tax, what a rip-off!

Never been stung for import tax before but just had something delivered by ups & had to pay £21 at my own front door to get it.

I bought some iraq most wanted playing cards from greatusaflags.com the postage was $23 so I thought I'd buy 12 packs & sell them to make a bit of £.

This is how much it all cost: 12 x packs of cards = $59.85, shipping & handling = $22.95. Then I have to pay the equivalent of $33.45 at my door

Robbing $hits, I heard that ups declares the tax on everything that comes over from the usa but there was no option over the shipping. It's the tax that is the gutter about it, like 50% tax!

they sell the cards at bowlers for £2.99 each pack, that might have been a cheaper option

Most likely, because if it's a small package they won't charge import tax, but 12 pack would come in a reasonably sized box, then they would prob weigh it and add import tax, but $23 for shipping from the US is VERY STEEP, especially for 1 pack, but for 12 it's not bad!

The shipping was a fixed price regarles of whether I bought 1 pack, 12 packs - or even a badge or something.
