    Default xbox live and isdn

I do not have broadband and cannot see it coming to my village in the near future. I have been hearing rumours that you can go online if you have 128k isdn with the xbox live service. Can anyone confirm if this is true, as if it is I will be ordering isdn.

again thanks for your help and apologies if anyone thinks this is a daft question. Just want to clarify the rumour I have heard from other people.

    cheers,

    Andy

I'm in same situation, would be interested to know this too.

I tried playing some xbox with xbconnect at 64k and that was a no-no, but 128k seems fine, so would love to know if live would work too.

    Default Yep

Yes, Xbox live works on ISDN, I use it at 128K

I was quite surprised - you can even use the headset.

it's easy, just install it on a pc connected to the net and you're away, simple as that.

it's all transparent to the xbox, think it emulates an xbox over the network so your xbox can see it and think it's a client or server.

there's another, xlink messenger which has headset support too

I have an isdn router configured to dial the Internet, then I give the xbox a local IP address.

tell xbox its default gateway (routers ip address) and the ips of the dns servers for my isp.

I'm sure you could do the same via just a pc and an ISDN modem

Bear in mind that on ISDN you will have a problem running some games - Wolfenstein lags on ADSL and I know people who play on 2 meg leased lines and it still lags with over 8 players!

But at least you can play it. MotoGP2 uses hardly any bandwidth

At least with ISDN the contention ratio shouldn't be too bad so you should get away with most of the games. The more complex ones like Halo2 etc will probably be unplayable though...
