    Default Nokia 8210 Screen Problem

I had a Nokia 8210 given me. The screen went off when you tried to access the menu. After a few days the screen wouldn't come on at all although the phone itself still worked. I tried a screen from a friends phone and it worked ok. I bought one. It worked Ok at first but now after a few days it will not work like the original. Any ideas please.

I don't know about the rubber seals but a common problem was the elastomer, which is a cylindrical piece of rubber found at the back of the screen (I think thats right anyway)

The only thing is that the new screen is complete with elastomer and rubber seals but I'll give it a go.

if the phone only go`s tits up when you xs the menu
then it is not the elastomer it is a sw fault
    compleat reflash will fix usualy

This my sound daft but giv it a go.
as soon as the fone starts to boot press the red call end key
keep pressing it till you get the network logo
then try xs the menu ,if you can disable the the animated splash screen or replace with your own greeting
this has worked for me on a few 82z with fucked sware

    good luck

The way i got round this on hte 8210 was to take the face off. Where theframe of the screen fold a bit of paper and put it around hte frame and put the face back on. If you have done this right the face will put pressure on the paper which will push the screen and problem solved

I don't think its anything to do with the elastomer. Pressure or changing elastomers makes no differance. My new screen now will not work at all and it won't work in another 8210. The screen from the other 8210 works in mine but I'm worried about leaving it on cause of what happened with the last one. I'm waiting for a data cable. Can anyone tell me the best s/ware to flash it.
