Tyson arrested after hotel brawl

Former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson has been arrested after a fight with two men outside a New York hotel.
Police say he was charged with third-degree assault and disorderly conduct following the fracas outside a hotel in Brooklyn where he was staying.

The boxer was treated for minor cuts after the other men apparently swung at him with an object taken from the hotel lobby.

The two men were also arrested and charged with menacing behaviour and harassment after the fight at 0530 local time.

Their names were not immediately released.

Man of violence

The brawl is the latest in a long line of violent incidents involving Tyson.

The boxer was convicted of rape in 1992 and was sentenced to six years in prison - serving three years before being released on parole.

In 1997, he bit off a piece of Evander Holyfield's ear during a bout.

Tyson's Nevada boxing licence was suspended for a year, and he was fined $3m.

In 1999, he was released from a Maryland jail after serving three-and-a-half months for assaulting two motorists.

Last year, he threw a punch at Lennox Lewis' bodyguard at a news conference announcing a fight between the two, setting off a brawl between Tyson and Lewis.

Apparently, it all started in the Hotel restaurant.
Of the two blokes he was fighting, one was really fat, and the whole escapade wasn't helped by the waiter being a bit sarcatic, and Tyson having only one functional brain cell.

Well, the fat bloke who had just finished a seven courser asked the waiter for seconds. The waiter duely went into the kitchen to see if there was anything left. Unfortunately the fat knacker had eaten everything, and so the waiter popped his head around the door and shouted across the restaurant "Seconds out round one"

This was when Tyson's brain cell cut in.

I'd bet the media were involved, anything for a story.
Once they run out of ideas (making the stuff up) they try to 'create' some news. And that is well known.

But sometimes, you just have to bite back, even when you know it's a set up. I know.

who in there right mind would start a fight with tyson??

they deserve to get hit for not running away quick enough if you ask me.

on a similar note - anyone hear about the time someone tried to mug lennox before he went professional? - apparently lennox caught his punch and it only took 1 hit from lewis and he was down and out. i would have paid money to see that.
