I don't know if there is a GPS jacket for this model, but you could go way off target and buy a Bluetooth Jacket for it and use a Bluetooth GPS unit (like the NAVMAN GPS 4400 )...
I use the Navman 3450 for my iPAQ 5450 and it's very quick to track and accurate...
Is there any reason you are buying the 19xx model rather than one of the 37xx/38xx/39xx models?
Mole
the only reason was that its £190 brand new , i wanted the co-pilot jacket as ive heard thats its supposed to be the best , the price was really the only factor , otherwise which is the best pda and wots so good bout the blue tooth one compared to the one without it ?
I have got a Compaq 3970 with bluetooth, which is one of the best out, the bluetooth can do a few thing i.e. enables you to connect to a bluetooth phone and connect to the internet/messenger etc on a train, bus car etc..
if you look on ebay you may find something to your liking. i picked up a new 3870 for $215 and a sat nav kit for 150. with the right software (tomtom) its amazing. you should be able to get the sat nav kit for about 100 without software.
Never Take Your Eyes Off The Prize, And Even When You're Getting High, Dont Ever Hesitate To Try.
No jackets for the 1910 i'm afraid, and not connection options. If you want to use GPS you'll need a 3xxx series iPaq, or a 5455 (A beauty of a machine - I love mine) - either a GPS jacket or a bluetooth transceiver
is there much diff between 3xxx and 5xxx ? and wot apart from finger print recog ?
The 54xx series has:
64mb RAM
48mb ROM
Built-in Bluetooth
Built in WiFi/802.11b
Biometrics
The 39xx has:
64mb RAM
32mb ROM
Built-in Bluetooth on the top-end models
So the main advantages of the 54xx series are the extra ROM (rumoured to be needed to upgrade to Magento, the Windows CE .Net version of the PocketPC operating system, scheduled for release in 2004), the biometrics (a bit gimmicky but still useful), and best of all - WiFi. This allows you to connect your ipaq to a computer or Wireless LAN at 11mbps, as well as allowing WarWalking/WarDriving. As there are no SDIO WiFi cards available, this is not an option for the 39xx without a bulky addon sleeve and CF card, that will push the units price up to almost that of a 54xx anyhow.
Both series have the traditional iPaq form factor (Unlike the 1910 and 2210), allowing the use of the multitude of expansion sleeves available
thank you zero , very helpfull , now next question which is the best navigation software? navman, tomtom, ipaq, co-pilot ?
Personally, i'm a great fan of TomTom - It works really well with my emtacs Bluetooth GPS receiver - with these and pocketwarrior, my 5455 is the ultimate compact WarWalking solution
