2000 box stuck on updating

I've got a box branded C&W and its stuck on updating..
it says.

Importatant
PLease do not switch off.
Your box is updating
This may take a few minutes.

I cant get in the Eng. menu and Ive tried 4321..

anything else?

Hold down the up/down keys in the center of the box then power it up keeping them pressed until you see the engineers screen.

You will need a scart lead connected to see the engineers screen.

thanks for the reply m8 but there's no way I can get the eng menu.. it just defaults to the 'update page'

The box will need to be reflashed to fix m8
it has crashed when it was updating ,or the power has been pulled during the update.
the only way to fix it without removing the atmels is to
put it in to serial download and use winsect
and the one person that knows how to do it is not telling !
the reason you cant get the eng. menu is bcoz its part of the
middle ware (that is now corupted)
and 4321 wont work as the net id is now gone
the txt will keep scrolling `no baud`

are you psychic plug? ive had boxes that go to updating screen that are fixed when the jumper is pulled. he needs to try that first if he already hasnt...

and whos the loser that knows how to use winsect and not telling?

I've recently worked out how to use it, its not difficult, the only problem lies with the digital signature check that the box does (4000), it fails due to the signature not being in the file.
Hence the error 31 on screen which means - Digital Signature Failed.. i should imagine its md5. ive tried a few dumps that were straight from a working tw 4000 box. none of them are signatured and hence the box rejects them all, so whomever has claimed they have it working either is lying or has the digital sig.. my guess is that they are lying.

As for pulling the red jumper, unplug the box , remove the jumper for about 30 secs, then replace and set network id etc in lib debug, if you are on tw i would also do the anti update mod as you definately do not want this box trying to update..
it will wipe the software including the middleware, so no more eng menu!
