Problem is they now have to pass it through the house of lords which are PRO hunting!!

WHY don't they just do a public vote and whatever the majority wants we do!? Is that not a democracy!?

I cringe at the thought of loosing yet another English/British Tradition.

I wish these tree huggers would just fuck off

wizer these are barbarians, a sport that revels in the pain and anguish of a defensless creature pitted against 40-50 killing machines, how you can say that is beyond me. in our society today we have no traditions we can be proud of nor do we hold any right to any sport that is only about killing innocents.

I tend to agree with both Wizer (another lost british tradition) and also Detector (praying on wildlife).

    How about a solution?

Pack hunt the tree huggers?.. much more fun, a sport im sure many would take on.

infact this makes much more sense!

But this ban on hunting has nothing to do with cruelty to animals, its about politics. So its not good for either side. I would be astonished if they actually managed to pass this law.

Funny how the farmers who lose livestock to the excess fox population are pro hunting, and its just the muppets who have seen disneys 'the fox and the hound' who get upset about it.

    Bunch of girls, pah

Hunting has controlled the fox population for hundreds of years, you take that away, and they will just have to increase trapping, which is loads better

''I would be astonished if they actually managed to pass this law.''

Then that's a disgrace as the overwhelming majority of the U.K population want a outright BAN, they see it for what it is which is a nasty cruel so called 'SPORT' which has NO PLACE what-so-ever in a civilized society.

I have fox's that come into my garden @ night and every Sunday I put out left over food and watch them eat it, they are beautiful animals and the thought of a GANG of people and untold dogs chasing the poor thing for hours and then ripping it apart 'FOR FUN' REALLY upsets me!!

I don't belive the majority of this country are against fox hunting.. i do believe that every tree hugger has voted tho.

As kjun said, the farmers will just resort to trapping these animals. There has to be some control over the fox population in rural areas.

I'm sure you do leave out food for foxes lefty.. but you are putting yourself and your family at risk... especially if you are living in the suburbs. Foxes are carnivores and will attack you. A family in my local area lost their 3month old baby when whilst sleeping on the sofa a fox wondered in and savaged the baby.

I agree that these animals are beautiful, but then so are tigers.

At the end of the day.. its just a dumb animal.

Who says Fox's don't love being chased across miles of farmland by a pack of blood thirsty hounds anyway, I'm sure I saw a fox once with a smile on his face while being chased, he was certainly enjoying it. Bravo Mr Fox, bravo!

that's pretty odd, seeing as they're only 615 seats in the house of commons!

anyway you stopped to consider all the labour CITY mps who voted for this? Not to mention the first past the post voting system which gives governments huge majorities? and remember the Countryside Alliance march in Central London - 1,500,000 people bothered to turn out. That's a preety clear indication of the popular support.

It's just a load of leftie, liberal, do-gooding MPs trying to ban yet another British tradition. It's really only another stage in the class war. If they didnt go around in the red coats and enjoy themselves, Labour wouldn't be so resentful in the first place.

''Hunting has controlled the fox population for hundreds of years, you take that away, and they will just have to increase trapping, which is loads better''

Absolute RUBBISH!!! It HAS been scientifically PROVEN that Fox Hunting with dogs is one of the MOST inefficient ways of culling fox's. The most efficient being lamping where they shine a bright light into their eyes to daze them and then a SKILLED marksman shoots them in the head. If a rogue FOX must be killed then I would MUCH prefer it to be killed in this humane way!!

    Go read the reports:

School Of Biological Sciences, University Of Bristol

Government's Committee Of Inquiry Into Hunting With Dogs

    Wheres the sport in that?

Can i draw your attention to the poll on here

when i voted pro hunting had over 50% of the votes
    anti hunting, less than 40%

these opinion polls are never acurate, you get the response you want by who you want to answer
