    hi guys does anyone know if there is any disks, or software around that does a trace on owners of vehicles from there number plate.???

    If you're just the average Joe then no mate, mainly due to the data protection act ......... BUT if you know "someone" who has access to the info then maybe try asking them.
    I've seen this kinda thread here a few times and remember that the requests have been answered on occasion via P.M's.
    Maybe "someone" here will help you out if you're lucky.

    p.s btw I am not the "someone" I mentioned above lol, I'm just the messenger ;)¬~

    If you have a reasonable reason to know then you can write to the dvla and they will send you the details for a small fee.

    DVLA shouldn't be able to disclose personal details unless an exemption under the DPA applies. The 'best' bet you have got if you are a civilian is to try and quote section 35 of the DPA which, in theory, permits disclosure if a legal process is in place. I don't fancy your chances though.

    As for 'knowing someone'....the DPA applies to the boys in blue too, although they can claim an exemption agaist disclosure if this would, for example prejudice an investigation.
