    Help with 3310

can anyone help with this problem (Virgin, pay as U go), if I press any button the phone lights up correctly, but after a few seconds when the lights should turn off, they only dim, consequently draining the battery very quickly.
Apart from this problem the phone works perfectly, any advice would be appreciated, as it is my daughters phone, who is trying to use this as a reason to spend my money on a new one

If it is beyond economical repair, any advice on the cheapest place for a replacement.

    cheers
