NTL box - Disconnected (ish)

I have an NTL digital box, dunno which type it is or if I can do anything with it, the card says 06 .... .... 75 on the barcode and also 0105C01P04 near it, the box itself I've had since October 2001 and has Ethernet, Serial, Parallel, two SCARTs, RF out, LR Audio out and what looks like a connector for a remote extender or something similar, heh

The card has been switched off so it gets only the 5 free channels, the Preview channel and a couple of random ones that seem to change every month, heh

Can I do anything with it or should I have done something before it got turned off, I'm using the box for broadband so the modem is turned on etc, is it possible to reprogram the box over the network at all? Would there be any possibility of rewriting the firmware in the box itself?

Can I just buy a card of some description for the channels and avoid potentially knackering my box?

problem you got here is the modem as you say is needed so you cant really mod that box becouse you cant cut the talkback(2 way comms) my suggestion get a spare box never mod one mbeing subbed too

Bugger, I had an old one and chucked it, one of the Cable and Wireless ones (looked like the one I have now but had C&W instead of NTL printed on the front)

I was wondering if the problem with the card going down to the 5 basic channels would stop me doing anything, do analogue boxes stil work? I see those going fairly cheap on eBay (chipped)

I don't really need vast numbers of channels here, I'd be happy with Sky 1 and UK Gold tbh, just want it for startrek/gate/andromeda etc.

my gf has her ntl digital box chipped and has ALL the channels. Her mother tells me all her sister do all day is watch tv and movies :/
