Elton strikes Las Vegas deal

Sir Elton John has reportedly struck a two-year deal to play hundreds of concerts at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.

He is believed to be taking over from Celine Dion on the nights she is performing in the new Colosseum Theatre.

Sources declined to say how much the British singer would be paid.

However, the Las Vegas Sun newspaper said he would receive around £34m for approximately 300 shows over two years.

Dion receives £63m for 600 shows over three years.

There were no official comments on the reports

So boys, do I pay to watch Elton on New Years Eve or do I go mental in Crazy Horse Too while I'm in Vegas this December :?:

dont mean to be rude but what the hell has Celine Dion done thats so good that got her that gig in the first place, wen was her last number 1 for crying out loud, and its not like she is an enterainer she just seems to stand in 1 spot anytime i seen her :therock: (how the hell is that smiley ment to be the rock lol)

She's just a big name that the casino can use to pull in the punters - last time I was there this year they had Jerry Sienfeld doing standup at Caesar's and the tickets they had left were $400 - let's just say I never went!

Like the story says, Celine is the first really big act to sign up to this sort of thing since Elvis did his run of shows way back when, but I can't really see the casino's all having Celine machines in ten years time like they have Elvis machines nowadays.... She's just not as big (or at least she's not as big over here in the UK - guess she's a household name in the US and Canada).

Elton's a bigger name as far as I'm concerned and so should do well.The Jap tourists will love it and will be belting out Elton songs on Karaoke for years to come Might have a wander in to see the show if I can pull myself out the titty bars for long enough

Hell maybe they'll invite George Michael to join him to duet on Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me - that could be a good finale to the opening show - and it's not like George is doing much else nowadays!
