why do i only get 50% boot success ?

I have a v4 ps2 with 2.2 .....is there any easy to make it boot everytime? I get about a 50% boot success using this special. This is what happens....i load region x, eject,, insert disc, press x , the cd starts to spin....then it just stops spinning. If it continues to spin then the boot would be successful but....it hardly ever keeps spinning. I know that my laser is not the problem because it will boot sometimes first time no problems? other times it will take 4-5 boots to get it to run?

not sure if its the ps2 special or laser?

Any info would be helpful

I think you will find its the actual chip its self. I have the Neo 2, and the same happens to me, but saying that depends alot on media burn speed etc..

But these old chips can be a royal pain in the ass. Think I am gonna get new Silver ps2 with new selfboot chip for xmas me thinks
