If your looking for download scources on NG then you arent going to find any free ones Im afraid. I think most UK users go for Claranews and the like which arent free and you pay a monthly subscription.

Yeh there easy - get a copy of powergrab or grabit.

I just use easynews for everything, why should I use Claranews as well? Is it cheaper/faster or anything?

Heres a little tip which helped me.

I use newsbin as my binary newsreader.. I have a bt account so I put the bt sever as the first news server in my server list then I put my pay per month servers in in order of cost per gig. Newsbin will download any parts of a file that are available from the first server that has them.. in my case it will choose bt if the file part (chunk) is on bt.. if not it moves to the next in the list and so on... therefore if a part can be downloaded from my free news service it doesnt use up my paid for gigage quite as fast.

Hope this tip is of use to someone.

im with blueyonder m8, and i use xnews for my newsreader, its the only one i realy know how to use as ive not tried any others apart from newsbin i think.

the only thing i dunno how to do on xnews is resume files, so i just delete the last one and start again from that

**** me i just tried out zens news server and I cannot believe how good it is. Well its only got a 2day retention but its pretty much complete.

I'll be using that a bit more then should save a bit of my easynews quota anyway.

soup sounds interesting with your set up will give that a whirl. I got so used to using the easynews web browser I haven't bothered with any news readers in yonks. Just tried grabit and very impressed (far better than the old agent we used to endure!) Can grabit do the setup you suggest having your free server then your paid in order?

I'm intrigued by this multiple server thing tho, if it gets 90% of the files on your free news server and then just tops up automatic with easynews then I'll save loads on quota.

Especially if it can even get the incomplete files on the free and then complete them with easy.

Hehe, I'm still using Agent for my email nowadays - have been since 1995 - I really need a new email client

It's shite for binaries but still okay for reading text articles..
