    Default magnetic shielding

what's the easiest way to magneticaly shield a pump (for a water cooled system). The pump is about 3ft away from the monitor and it's still quite noticeable ;/ .... or is there anything I can do to shield the monitor more?

    any suggestions?

    cheers

    darren

What you need is a barrier to absorb the Electro magnetic field. Try as cosmicma suggested and put it in a tin, may i suggest that you use a tin made of a very dense metal as this will absorb the magnetic field the most. Try lead or similiar if it is that bad.

Would the material need to be capable of holding a magnetic charge ?? If it was, the motor would magnetiz the material thus invalidating the idea.

if its the ac field that needs shealding then lead would be ok but if it's magnetism that needs shealding the lead would be useless you might as well use plastic

i would suspect it is the ac field that is causing the problem so what you say would work but then again so would any metal
personaly i would use a tin box it would kill 2 birds with 1 stone so to speak

cheers fo the replies, I have managed to move the monitor even further away from the system now and it's nowhere near as bad.
I'm going to be re-designing my whole cooling system again within the next few weeks which will now include a metal surround for the pump. They never think to mention little details like this when they sell the kits huh!
