    Default xp upgrade from win98(fat 32)how to format to ntfs?

    I've finally upgraded to winxp after so many year's using win 98,my question is,how can I convert the drive from fat 32 to ntfs without doing a full format and losing all my file's?

    use the conv command in the command prompt

    convert c: /FS:NTFS from a dos prompt

    see help convert for more options

    it will convert it when you reboot, I'd advise running defrag first and removing any files you can (maybe onto another partition/drive) should help the process
