Post-Secondary Education

Hey,

I am pondering what I am going to do with my life after high school.

I am considering going to a tech school something along the lines of ITT tech.
It is also a possibility that i am goign to Uiversity, possibly UBC

I am wondering what kind of grades you guys got in grades 11/12. What post-secondary school did you go to? How was it trying to get in?

I am basically trying to see what i am getting myself into and trying to get an idea of the grades i should be maintaining.

Any info on how hard/easy it was to get in or anythign along those lines would greatly be appreciated.

I left sixth form with BCCC. i am currently studying Law with computer science at keele uni. u will find that the red brick unis will expect higher grades from you. Grades arent everything however. if u have glowing references from ur teachers and form tutor etc, then it shud be a bit easier. an example of how much references can affect the offer that a uni gives u is my mate who got offered EE to study history at OXFORD!

use the ucas website to look into the various unis and what courses they are offering. Once u have shortlisted a few unis, visit their departmental websites and also visit on the open days. your school shud advise you on how to apply to the various institutions via UCAS.

As your talking about 11/12 im gathering ur in some kind of 6th form school? If not and your at GCSE level you will need to go to college before you hit uni.

GCSE i got BBB AAAAA A*A* and at AS im currently on ABB and one B at A-level but i got the rest of the year to sort them out.

To get in most decent unis on popular courses i think they are lookin at like AAB or ABB at A-level, if you go to some university websites though you can find out what grades you need for what courses.

I found GCSE a lot harder than A-level, purely because there was so much shit i didnt want to do, managed to coast my way through them, college is harder work but its made easier by the fact u want to do it.

Also if your lookin at unis i hear the guardian website has info on decent ones. Sorry if i only talked about the uni route of education but its all i know
