    Default Kill Bill: Vol. 1

"The Bride" was once part of a group of world class female assassins, until the group leader, "Bill" and the other assassins turn against her. Five years later "The Bride" awakens from the coma the assassins left her in and heads out to seek bloody revenge. Unlike conventional movies, Kill Bill is told in chapter format making the narrative flow more like a book than a film.
I watched this film last night and have to say that i am suprised by how much i enjoyed it!

i am a BIG Tarantino fan, all his works are great......even Curdled and Destiny Turns on the Radio!!

this had me on the back foot when i first saw the cast (uma? Darryl Hannah?) but when he said he knew what he was doing, **** me he did just that....

the cast for Vol:1 worked amazingly, the fantasy style jap fighting is spot on but remember, yuo have to take this film for what it is....its not another serious realistic toned gangster mess like RD and PF....its pure hong kong fun.....and its ****ing awesome.......

    go get it now!

Err, have to somewhat disagree with you there m8, I'm also a big Tarantino fan but this is far from his best work in fact it doesn't even come close to RD and PF, in fact I enjoyed True Romance and From Dusk til Dawn better than this.

And Uma Thurman has got some funny idea's, twice last week I saw her in interviews claiming that the final fight sequence is ground breaking cinema and the best fight sequnece ever filmed, pah, what a load of old pony, the fight sequences didn't even come close to the quality seen in Matrix Reloaded.

Having said that I still enjoyed the movie, but it's nothuing new and it ain't Tarantino's best work by a country mile.

Loads of blood and violence and a rape scene with a twist

it may not top RD and PF.....infact True Romance is the best of his bunch.........but there aint a lot in it....

i just hope he gets on and does some more writing for others to direct, then gets a little directing done himself!!

you all heard the Casino Royale bond film rumour i take it? - ****ing bring it on!!

Tarintino gave us exactly what he wanted; only I'm now sure after a few days that Kill Bill is not what I wanted! The story was just too simplistic, the characters not interesting enough (apart from Buck Fu*K!) and where was the cool Tarintino dialogue?

The second part may yet save it so I'll leave final judgment until then... otherwise, roll on 'Inglorious Bastards'.

I'm with Webby on this one, I ****ing loved this movie It doesn't have as much of the Tarantino wit but it's just a great film and I don't want to think how many things he's paying homage to here...

Looking forward to seeing part two but it really made a change to see a film with fight sequences that weren't CGI - don't get me wrong I love the Matrix series & Equilibrium but this is like a breath of fresh air with loads of films out there with cheap poxy looking CGI.

Uma is class as a bad mother****er out for revenge - liked the cameo by the dude from all Adam Sandler's films as the guy who pays $30 to shag Uma.

Can't believe her name is Beatrix tho!

Bring on the second volume quick or I'm reading the script I downloaded off the net..

I was looking forward to seeing the bit where they go all Crouching Tiger with the dude with the white hair and moustache but guess I'll have to wait til part 2 for that.

While promoting his forthcoming film Kill Bill, director Quentin Tarantino told The New York Daily News how he would tackle one of the only Bond novels not to have an 'official' Eon treatment to date. He told told them "Someday I'm going to get the rights to do Casino Royale, the first James Bond novel, and do it the right way. I really wanted it to be my followup to Pulp Fiction and do it with Pierce Brosnan, but have it take place after the events of On Her Majesty's Secret Service - after Bond's wife, Tracy, has been killed."

"I want Bond to be in mourning when he falls in love with Vesper Lynd, the woman in the novel. From what I know of Brosnan and read in interviews, I think he'd want to go in the direction I'd want to take Bond, though I'm not certain producers of the series would agree."

This isn't the only time Tarantino has expressed interest in being involved in a Bond film, the rumour mill had him apparently submit to Eon a script for a potential Bond film that Tony Scott would supposedly direct, Tarantino also has in the past put forward his wish to write/direct a film in a 60s style

i think perhaps you are trying too hard to rate volume one as a movie in itself, cos on its own its far from perfect, i feel they made a big mistake splitting it up into 2 volumes, i would have much preferred to watch a 5 hour epic rather 2 halfs of a story. altho their profits may not have benefited i think the movie as a whole would have.

when i got to the end of it i was like "that it??" dont get me wrong on its own its still better than most of the other shite about and definately worth a watch ..

i just hope they dont **** about with vol.2 too long and get the story completed as it should be.

for those who havent seen this tarentino killbill interview ive stuck a torrent on here, just rename it to .torrent once u get it, its definately worth a watch, very entertaining.

    as for the film..

    vol 1 7/20
    vol 2 dunno yet
    killbill dunno yet

just got back from watching it and wot can i say, it the dogs nads.

i went in realy not knowing wot to expect and i wasnt dissapointed.

i also liked the fact that tarantino also did not break the unwritten rule for martial arts fite sequences - that when a grp attack, they attack one at a time and all the others mince around and try to look menacing whilst waiting for their turn :|

    neway, top shit!

I enjoyed it but thought that Tarantino 'borrowed' heavily from Sergio Leoni and also Kurasowa films. Sort of a modern day spaghetti western.

Fighting was great and especially I liked banter with the 1st girl in the kitchen....

Lots of blood and still cant quite see the point of the cartoon and the black and white parts but still enjoyable.

Dont think it should be rated too highley until the 2nd part is released.

It goes black and white as it's a fiddle for the censors - they treat B&W material different to colour - if it had been colour then the film would have had an X (maybe NC17 nowadays) rating in the USA - since they used black and white they got the R-17 rating instead.

I read a bit about the film and the anime bit was used since they were telling a story in the past sense and I guess he just thought he could use it to demonstrate a good anime studio... Paying homage again to what he thinks is class I guess.

i think the anime bit was also partly to do with the censors, ped0phile scene would have been treated differently as well as all the blood

Saying that they still show plenty of chopped limbs and blood in the rest of the fight scene which is in colour.

As for the anime, there is no actual sexual content but I agree that this seems to be a film he has made to pay tribute to the genres.
