Yup. A mate had his box banned for the R6 "issue". Luckily I had a spare EEPROM for him

heres 909s fix for you
extract the iso with xiso, look through the files and remove dashupdate.xbe, should be arround 50 meg, theres also 2 other files you can remove, updater.xbe and another but i dont think theyre important, burn this back to dvdr and it can nolonger sabotage your xbox for you.
it is kinda sneaky cos its the first thing that comes up and you think that it means log into the game in some swat team type sh|t when actually its xblive
I got my XBOX banned a while back by the same method - it might take a while to ban your xbox 'cos mine worked for a bit after my mistake.
Moral of the story - firewall your xbox so you cant play live by mistake :-)
Also - collect spare EPPROMS for when you do still **** it up.

if i get banned from live then the twats will never get another penny out of me. I am considering purchasing it and the games to play on it so if they ban me they will lose all the revenue they would make off me.
Mine did come up and update my dash so I know have live in the dash does that mean i'm banned or is it only if I tried to connect with live and enter username etc?

mine tried to connect and insisited on updating the live s/w part on the xbox, i allowed it to do so, but im not subscribed to live (in any shape/way/form)... is there a check i can do? i guess i had to pay to get on live initially? sorry for n00b questions, its all rather new to me.

to the best of Ur knowledge, are there any other games that will try and screw up your life like this, namely auto connect to Live and update of s/w??
I don't plan to use Live for a few months yet, but would be pretty pissed off if the first time I connected I got banned.
some will auto update when u goto the live setting in the game, thats ok if you know what your doing but not if your letting the kids play on ya xbox and stuff. You can do the method i described up there in any live game and it cant update your dash anymore.
ok but now that it has updated my dash is mine fubar'd already?
yes i was connected i always am as I stream movies etc and dont plan on disconnecting. I haven't signed up to any live gubbins or set any options in the dash tho

Heard rumours that PGR2 will connect straight away to download the latest lap times and stuff. Going to watch my back with that one.
I wonder if Xecutor could make the BIOS set your IP settings to anything random that wont work so if your chip is on there is no way it can connect to live ?
Just set an invalid subnet mask or silly ip adress and gateway should do the trick.

I do this all the time
except i make it slightly better!
I copy the default.xbe of the game 3 times
I then copy the name of dashupdate.xbe - copy it to one of the default.xbe copies and so on with the other ones
this means that when you select anything to do with xbox live - instead of ****ing your xbox it just goes back to the game
hope you like it, perfet for me when i have mates who like to cick every button they see without knowing what it is

i'll still be able to subscribe to live (if i ever do...)
obviously i'll have to only play legit games.
by default the NIC i have connected the xbox to, has no gateway.
yes you cant connect to xbox LIVE unless you have an account set up so you couldnt have been banned mate
and you know you need a switch though yes?, just checking
